Safurah ( Radiyallu Anha )
16th of September 2022
Safurah (Radiyallahu Anha) was a modest, intelligent and wise lady. She was the princess of Madaain, but she was not like the worldly Princesses puffed up with pride and arrogance but She was a different kind of princess, she was a caring daughter for her aged Father, she was strong while very much modest, her modesty was such that Allah SWT mentioned about her modesty in the Quraan. Safurah (Radiyaallahu Anha) was the eldest daughter of Shuayb (Alahissalam).
That was the time, people of that area had flock of sheep’s and every morning the male of the house used to go to the nearby field’s with their flock of sheep’s, they used to graze them, tend them, feed them and give them water to drink. The work of shepherd’s is not an easy task, it need’s a lot of patience and strength. Allah SWT made all the Ambiya (Alahissalam) to tend Sheep’s for certain years, as it creates patience, humbleness and steadfastness in the heart of a person. Every morning it could be heard from the land of Madaain the hymning tune of the shepherds that they going towards the nearby fields with the flock of their sheep’s to graze them.
The story of Shuyaib (Alahissalam’s) house was little bit different. Safurah (Radiyallahu Anha’s) mother passed away many day’s before her adulthood. And Shuayb (Alahissalam) was turned very old as well. There was no other men at home other than Him (Alahissalam) to do the outsider tasks, Safurah (Radiyallhu Anha) was very kind to her Father, she used to take care of Him (Alahissalam) and along with her sister used to do all the household and outsider tasks. they too had flock’s like all the other people of Madaain but they did not have any men to do the work of the shepherds. There was no river nearby, except well’s. People used to line up every evening with their flock’s to give them drinking water. Every evening Safurah (Radiyallahu Anha) and her sister used to go to the well to make their flock to drink water. But they were modest and shy. They used to wait aloof from all the men with their flock until all the men finish their work’s, when everybody would go back to their home, they would make their flock to drink water and then come back to home. That was the story of every single day, she and her sister was doing such heavy works without any complain, and with keeping their modesty and Hayaa (Shyness) as these should be to please Allah SWT. She showed us, doing domestic works is not something to be shamed of but this is the Sunnah of all the great ladies of different era’s and again she showed us if its necessary to do some works of men, we should do it with our modesty not with shamelessness. And only there is the pleasure of Allah SWT remains.
However, One evening, Safurah (Radiyallahu Anha) and her sister was sitting and waiting for all the men to go as usual, all the shepherds were making their flocks to drink water from the well. Suddenly one new person appears in the seen, it could be seen from his appearance that, he traveled from long distance. He was looking as a very noble and intelligent personality. The person notices that Safurah (Radiyallahu anha) and her sister sitting aloof with their flock. The person comes and asks them,
“What’s the matter with you?”
Both the sister’s answers, their Father is an elderly man and there is no other men at their home to do this work. Then that noble person takes their flock and make them to drink water one by one and helps these respectable ladies. The shepherds used to block the opening of the well with a huge rock to keep the water clean from any bad thing to enter in it, at their absence. This was the practice in olden times. And the rock’s used to be so heavy that only some men together could move that. It would very hard for Safurah (Raduyallahu Anha) and her sister to move such a heavy and large rock. On that particular day, that noble person removes the stone just by himself, such astonishing matter! Safurah (Radiyallahu Anha) notices astonishingly. He must be somebody very grate. Safurah ( Radiyallahu Anha) was wise, she silently notices everything, then she and her sister went back to their home with the flock. She narrated the entire story to her Father Shuaiyb (Alahissalam). He then want’s to meet that person. Safurah (Radiyallahu Anha) comes back again while walking shyly. Allah SWT mentioned about her Hayaa and her walking with shyness,
فَجَآءَتْهُ إِحْدَىٰهُمَا تَمْشِى عَلَى ٱسْتِحْيَآءٍۢ
(Then one of the two women came to him, walking with shyness)
Then she says to that person with full Modesty that, “ Indeed our Father calls you that he may reward you for making our flock’s drink water.”
The person was very Noble and modest, He keeps going ahead and says Safurah (Radiyallahu anha) to stay behind. Safurah (Radiyallahu Anha) again understood, this is another good quality of this man and she was sure he must be somebody very grate. Shuaiyb (Alahissalam) was waiting to meet with the person. When he meet’s with him, after listening his story, it was came to the light that,He was Hadhrat Musa (Alahissalam). He had to escape from Egypt because of Firwaun’s order to kill him.
Safurah (Radiyallahu Anha) hiddenly tells her Father to employ Musa Alahissalam and she tells all the good qualities she noticed in Him so far, Shuaiyb (Alahissalam) was a Nabi, He understood this is a grate man to give marry his daughter with. He hides His daughters advice and says from himself, Allah SWT mentioned this beautiful conversation in the Quraan thus,
He said, “Indeed, I wish to wed you one of these, my two daughters, on [the condition] that you serve me for eight years; but if you complete ten, it will be [as a favor] from you. And I do not wish to put you in difficulty. You will find me, if Allāh wills, from among the righteous.”
Musaa (Alahissalam) fulfils this condition, He marries to Safurah (Radiyaalhu Anha), The daughter of Nabi became the wife of Another Nabi because of her Hayaa and Intelligence. Musa (Alahissalam) intends to return to His own land Egypt along with His wife Safurah (Radiyallahu Anha), Safurah (Radiyallahu anha) was expecting at that time, but she was a great lady, she at once got ready to accompany her husband Musa (Alahissalam) in this strenuous journey from Maddain to Egypt. Journey was not so easy at that time, it would take months to travel from one country to another country. The transport was only riding animal’s, after the journey of days an nights, people could reach one country to another country. Musa (Alahissalam) and Safurah (Radiyallahu Anha) was travelling for many day’s, One night it was very cold, in this very cold night, during their journey Safurah (Radiyallahu anha) gives birth their child in the middle of the desert. How patient she was Subhanallah! And Allah SWT rewarded her and made her a wife of a Nabi in that special night. Allah SWT gave prophet hood to Musa (Alahissalam) on that very night.
Safurah (Radiyallhu anha’s) story teaches us to become active and dutiful housewife, having shyness and modesty while being an intelligent and wise person, to become a dutiful daughter and a supportive wife. And most importantly to become a dutiful slave of Allah.
(The leaf in the photography was a gift from a beautiful little student to her Muallimah and her name is Safurah, May Allah accepts her for all the goodness. Ameen)

Ummul Mumineen Hadrat Safiyyah Radiyallhu Anha
16th of September 2022
Al-Qamus, a very strong and protected fortress, it was situated in Khaybar. Khyber was called the fortified city of Jewish. The city was protected with high boundary wall’s made of rock’s all around, and the entrance gate of the city was a very heavy and strong Iron gate. Khayber was an armed city, they had enough food and so many oasis inside.
Al-Qamus fortress was inhabited by Banu Nadir, one of the Jewish tribe. Each family of the tribe had their own small fort, own cultivated land and palm grove’s. All these fort’s were situated around a small mount and on the top of the mount, could be seen a giant palace like, highly protected Fort. The fort was beautified with so many rooms and beautiful decorations. There were balcony all around and there was a long walking lookout in one side of the Fort, which would help to learn any interference of any enemy in the town from long distance, on the other hand it was an amazing place to watch the luscious garden’s of palm tree all around the houses of different tribes, beautiful view of distant Khayber mountain’s would create an outstanding environment. The radish-brownish coloured mountain’s over golden sand of the desert, the green palm tree and the amazing blue sky, all these colour’s together would create a mind blowing view for anybody. It can easily imaginable, the inhabitants of this Fort was living like king’s. It was the Fort of the Chief of Banu Nadir, his name was Chief Huayy ibn Akhtab. He was a learned man.
The only daughter of Huayy was Safiyyah, she was the apple of her father’s eye, was the joy of the mountain top Fort. Her parental ancestry would directly could trace back with Hadrat Harun (Alahissalam) and Musa (Alaihissalam), because of that she got good upbringing from her childhood. She was not proud although she was a daughter of a Chief. When she grew up, her Father gave her marry with the treasurer of Banu Nadir, Kenana bin Abi Huqaiq. She was living happily with ease of worldly life.
Suddenly one evening she notices her father and uncle very anxious about something. They were talking about the last prophet has reached in Yathrib. In the Jewish book’s the sigh’s of the last prophet was written, the Jewish were waiting for the last prophet and to become His companion.
The tribe’s (Aus and Khazraj)of Yathrib (Madeenah) and the Jewish of Khayber had conflict with each other, the Jewish had plan to destroy them with the help of the last prophet and they use to warn the Aus and Khazraj that they will destroy them very soon. The people of Yathrib kept listening that for years, when during a Hajj pilgrimage, they learnt that the last prophet already appeared, they took pledge in the hand of Nabi (Sallallahu Alahi wa Sallam) before the Jewish. When Nabi (Sallallahu Alahi wa Sallam) arrives Yathrib, the Jewish chief’s goes to meet him, Huayy and his brother also went to that evening, all the sigh’s matched exactly, this is the last prophet! But the Yathribite’s took pledge to Him even before them! How it possible, they the people of the Book! The ego and jealousy arises in their hearts and makes their learned heart’s completely blackened. They decide to remain the enemy of Yathribite and also to the Last prophet Hadrat Muhammad ( Sallallahu Alahi wa Sallam).
Safiyyah was experiencing everything silently, her Father, Uncle and Husband everybody changed into alien personality. Those learned people looking like preparing for revenge, fire burning in their heart’s, it seemed like they will burn all the people of Yathrib with the fire of their heart’s.
Safiyyah was young girl, very soft and beautiful hearted, One night Safiyyah sees in her dream that a portion of moon falling into her lap. When she wakes up she mentioned the dream to her husband Kenana, he at once slaps on her face so severely, that creates a mark on her eyes. Then he says,
“You seem to be desiring to become the wife of the king of Madinah.”
she was shocked about what just happened, but she felt hopeful inside, if Allah destines to be the wife of the last prophet, that will be a mercy from Allah. She keeps seeing the same kind of dream again and again, another time she narrates to her Father, the Father who was very kind to her from childhood, he also hit her and says the same thing as Kenana said.
Huayy makes a plan to assassin the prophet (Sallaallahu Alahi wa Sallam) (Nauzubillah), he writes a letter to the prophet (Sallallahu alahi wa sallam) thus,
“You come to us along with 3 of your companion’s. We will ask 3 of our scholars to talk to you. If they believe you, we will follow you.”
The three Jewish hid daggers under their cloths. Their plan was to stab while He (Sallallahu Alahi wa Sallam) busy in conversation, the debate was a trap. A lady from Banu Nadir inform this plan to one of his Muslim brothers among the Ansaar’s. Nabi (Sallallahu Alahi wa sallam) was on the journey toward Khayber, when this news reaches to Nabi (sallallahu Alahi wa Sallam) and the Sahaba (Radiyallahu Anhum), He (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) immediately returned and gathered an Army in the morning and marched towards Khayber to siege the fort of Banu Nadir. A battle takes place, Safiyya’s husband Kenana was killed in the battle and Banu Nadir was agreed to go into exile towards Syria. They themselves fall into their own treachery. They were given 3 to 10 day’s to go to exile, they were given the chance to take everything they can load in their camel except the arms. They took everything even the doors of their homes, even the wood’s. Whatever left remained as booty, the winner party of the war would become the owner of the booty and would distributed among themselves in olden times.
Everybody left with their valuables, there were nobody to take Safiyyah with them. The beautiful hearted daughter of chief was in utter shock, She was captured, Hadrat Dahya Qalbi (Radiyallahu Anhu) requested for a maid, the Prophet (Sallallahu Alahi wa Sallam) gave her to him as a maid.
Other eminent Sahaba (Radiyallahu Anhum) came and said,
“ Ya Rasulullah (Sallallhu Alaihi wa Sallam)Banu Nadhir an Banu Quraiza will feel offended to see the daughter of a Jewish Chief working as a maid. We therefore suggest that she maybe taken as your own wife.”
That’s how Allah honered her for her sacrifices she went through for years, being a very soft and beautiful hearted personality while living with the people of jealousy and ego was definitely not very easy, no matter how close they are. Allah is the one who takes tests for certain years from His beloved’s then He awards with great Ajr that is very hard for the other people to reach.
The prophet (S.W) offers her Islam, Safiyyah delightedly accepts Islaam (Radiyallhu Anha). Then the Prophet (S.W) gives Dahiya Qalbi (Radiyallhu Anhu) reasonable sum of money as ransom and said to Safiyyah (Radiyallhu Anha),
“You are now free; if you want you can go back to your clan or can be my wife”.
Safiyyah (Radiyallahu Anha) who was longing for the last prophet while staying in the midst of the Jewish, answer’s at once,
“ Ya Rasulullah, I longed to be with you while I was a Jew. How can I leave you now, when I am a Muslim?”
the prophet (Sallallahu Alahi wa Sallam) Marries her and Allah blesses her with the title of Ummmul Mu’mineen (Mother of the believers) for her sacrifices of years and still remaining patient. She was only seventeen when prophet (S.W) married her. The marriage was took place at khayber.
The next morning the prophet (S.W) called the Sahaba (R.D) to bring whatever they got to eat, everybody brought their own Cheeze, dates, butter, they spread a long sheet. All the food was served and all the Sahaba (R.D) sat around the Sufra and shared the food among themselves. That was the Wlimah of the marriage.
Safiyyah (R.D) was very beautiful and her soft Akhlaq made her more beautiful, the prophet (Sallallahu Alahi wa sallam ) was very kind to her, once somebody told her “ daughter of a jewish”.
She was weeping, when the prophet (Sallallahu alahi wa sallam) learnt about that,
He said, “No you are a daughter of a prophet (Harun A.S) , your uncle was prophet (Musa A.S) and your husband is a prophet,” then He said to the other person to fear Allah.
That’s how our beloved prophet (Sallallahu alahi wa sallam) was there for her to uplift her, make her feel better and support her.
Safiyya (Radiyallahu Anha) lived with the prophet (Sallalahu alhi wa sallam) only for four years, she was only 21 (according to Ulama) when the prophet ( Sallallahu alahi wa Sallam) left this world. She died on Ramadan of 50 A.H at the age of 60.
Her story teaches us to remain patient in hardship, remain hopeful at time of utter sadness and affliction. Even if the entire society comes to destroy the dream of a person and Allah is there for him, Allah will make him win no matter what. So having hope with the promise of Allah is a great Amaal. Shaitaan’s effort is to make us feel hopeless and despair, but we will never let Shaitaan to win inshaAllah, rather we will let open the door’s of hope’s in our heart’s inshaAllah. May Allah makes us Steadfast in His SWT’s Deen. Ameen.

Asiya (Radiyallu Anha)
15th of September2022
Egypt was the most richest and strongest monarch of that time. The treasury of the kingdom was full of wealth and great collections, the agriculture was flourishing because of the great irrigation of river Nile and the great business policy made the land a superpower, It seemed that, Allah SWT poured the bounty of world over the people of Egypt and Allah SWT opened the door of every kind of ease and comfort to them.
The great King Ramses II was the emperor of that great monarch, the title of Egyptian emperor was Firawn at that time. He was famous for his tyranny and cruelty, ready to do everything to save his monarchy. His arrogance was such that he claimed himself as the greatest lord and everybody was bound to accept it or else had to accept cruelty after cruelty. Allah SWT mentioned in the Quraan the claim of Firwaun, he caimed-
أَنَا۠ رَبُّكُمُ ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ
(I am your most exalted lord)
such arrogant and proud king he was! everybody was frightened by his name and accepted him as their lord.
Asiya bint Muzahim was the beloved wife of his. She was given all kind of luxury, happiness and ease. She was pampered with all kinds of affection and compassion of Firwaun. While the entire kingdom was busy to please Firwaun, he was busy to please his beloved wife. Whatever would asked by her, Firwaun would make the entire kingdom to fulfil that. Whatever she would ask, Firwaun presented that for her at once. She was Queen of his heart.
Asiya was not an ordinary lady, she was strong, she was learned and intelligent. Once she was walking with her maids near to the river shore. Suddenly somebody cried out,
“ A beautiful baby is in this basket”.
Asiya run towards there and found a beautiful infant is placing in a basket and the basket floating near the river shore. She was kind, she did convince to Firwaun to accept this baby as their adopted child. She gave good education to the child and the child grew up under her protection in the house of Firwaun. Do we know, who was this child? Yes, he was Musa (Alahissalam).
When Musa (Alahissalam) got prophet-hood from Allah, Bani Israail accepted the faith revealed by Allah on Musa (Alahissalam) . On learning about it, Firwun got furious, They believing another Lord other than him! in his understanding, he is the only Lord of the land and the sea. Who else can be the Lord other than him! His tyranny and cruelty riches to the extreme level that He starts persecution and killing to the believers of Allah.
When he was busy killing and persecuting others, true guidance of Allah riches in the safest place of his heart, he kept pampered with utmost care. His Queen and beloved wife Asiya bint Muzahim accepts Islam and become a believer (Radiallahu anha). She kept her faith hidden for sometimes. After someday Firawun learnt about her faith, he couldn’t believe it, he got furious. This was the same man who was killing infants and others and was famous for his tyranny. Its easily imaginable how would be his punishment for the wife who was pampered by him and cared by him with utmost care.
He told Asiya (Radiyallahu anha) to renounce Islaam, Asiya (Radiyallahu anha) did not accept. He tied her up without food or drink for many day’s and said to renounce Islaam. But she was sarong In her conviction to Allah and was ready to accept any hardship for that. The beautiful Queen, who was pampered all the time, is now tortured by the same, by whom she was pampered by. There is no parallel in the history of her sacrifice she went through for accepting Islaam. Firawn dragged her to the hot desert and chained her to the ground under the heat of sun without any food or water. Other ladies of home would come to her to mock at her and lough at her. She remained steadfast in her faith. The more torture she faced the more her Imaan grew stronger. Firawn ordered to whip her until she renounce her faith. She was whipped and tortured but she still remained strong in her faith. She could live in the palace with ease and comfort with love of the mighty king of time but she chose hardship to get the love of owner of everything, the real Lord Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala) They were torturing her and she was getting more eager to meet Allah SWT. Firawn’s anger riches to the level of such cruelty that history unable to give any other example of this story. Firawn nailed Asiya (Radiyallhu Anha’s) body to the floor under the heat of the sun. He affixed her body with nails to the ground, Asiya (Radiallahu anha)’s whole body got covered with blood. Firawn was not satisfied yet, then he ordered to put a heavy stone on her chest.
Allah SWT was watching what’s going on with His slave and He SWT kept the full story protected with utmost care, an unparallel story of love of Allah SWT. Allah SWT honered her and mentioned in the Quraan her story and her her last word’s for the example for the people until Qiamah, how this honerable lady sacrificed her life to protect her Imaan. She is the example of a strong lady who leaved everything to get the nearness of Allah, when Asiya (Radiallahuanha) was breathing her last she looked at the sky and asked to Allah-
“My Lord, build for me near You a house in Paradise and save me from Pharaoh and his deeds and save me from the wrongdoing people.”
Allah accepted her prayer and gave her the nearest house near to Allah SWT in Jannah. The nearest house will be the house of Nabi (Sallallahu Alahi wa Sallam), Allah SWT accepted her to be the wife of His Habeeb (Sallallahu Alahi wa sallam) in Jannah.
Asiya (Radiallahu anha’s) story is the example of a lady who chose Akhirah over the glitter of this world, who chose love of Allah over the love of this world, who chose the house of Akhirah over the house of this world. May Allah SWT give’s us all strong Imaan. Ameen.
